On Friday night, the Holland men's varsity soccer team started its season with a 1-1 tie with non-conference opponent Grand Rapids Christian. In the first half, Holland conceded a penalty kick. The score held at 0-1 until late in the second half when Luke Rund-Scott passed to Jovanny Carrillo who converted to knot the score. "I thought we played well tonight," said Holland coach Greg Ceithaml. "It is still early in the season, and we have a lot to work on, but it was a strong first outing against a solid opponent." Holland is now 0-0-1. In Junior Varsity action, the Holland JV defeated GRC 2-1.
