On Wednesday night, the Holland Varsity Soccer Team defeated Zeeland East 8-0. In the first half, Caelen Gray opened the scoring on a pass from Andy Andres; Jovanny Carrillo scored the first of his three goals on an assist from Caelen Gray. Carrillo scored twice more before the end of the half. In the second half, Asher Folkert scored on a long shot, Dre Lopez scored from an assist by Carrillo, Carter Hofland converted from a pass by Santi Salazar, and Pike Fletter capped the scoring from another pass from Salazar. Goalies Simon Ozimek and Landon Van Ingen shared the shutout. "Zeeland is a strong team in our conference," said Holland coach Greg Ceithaml. "Our offensive output surprised me. We put together some strong combinations. I was very happy with the result." Holland is now 1-0-1. In JV action, the Holland JV had a comeback win against the Zeeland East JV 2-1.
