On Thursday night, the Holland Men's Soccer team traveled to Zeeland West and won 3-0. In the first half, Luis Parra assisted Odis Fickel who put the Dutch up 1-0. In the second half, Josiah VanHekken assisted Ryland VanderPloeg who finished with power, and then it was VanHekken's turn to score from a pass from Fickel. Goalies Josh Keller and Mark Jordan shared the shut-out behind defenders Gabe Bos, Toby Phillips, Michael French, Keegin Hulst, Frank Soriano-Campos, and Phil Maatman. "Zeeland West is a very strong defensive team," said Holland coach Greg Ceithaml. "I was relieved to get an important conference win on their field. We didn't play very well in the first half, but everyone on our squad played better in the second half. It was important to see that improvement, especially in a difficult road game." Holland is now 6-1-1. In JV action, the Holland JV team defeated Zeeland West 2-1. The JV team is now 7-0.
