On Wednesday night in front of a very vocal and supportive crowd, the Holland Men's Varsity Soccer Team defeated Zeeland East 3-0. After a hard-fought first half that ended in a 0-0 tie, Holland scored three goals in the second half. Odis Fickel had a goal and an assist, Ali Sakhi-Zada and Armondo Gonzales scored goals, and Alan Estrada and Josiah VanHekken recorded assists. Goalies Josh Keller and Mark Jordan shared the shut-out. "Zeeland East plays with great intensity and they played very strong defense tonight," said Holland soccer coach Greg Ceithaml. "It took over 50 minutes to pressure and finally score. I was happy with our effort and our passing. We limited our touches and moved the ball. That made a great difference." Holland is now 10-3-2 and looks forward to the El Clasico match against West Ottawa on Saturday. In JV action, Holland JV defeated Zeeland East 2-1. Holland JV is now 12-0-1.
