Dutch Baseball Drops Finale to Unity, 11-5

The Holland Dutch hosted the Unity Christian Crusaders for game three of the conference series on Thursday afternoon and were unable to finish with a win. The Dutch were bitten by the big inning bug for the second time in the series, allowing seven Crusaders to cross home in the top of the third inning. On the mound, Senior Peyton Lehman started the game going 2 1/3 innings, allowing 6 earned runs on 6 hits and a walk. Sophomore Asher Folkert followed with 3 2/3 of solid relief, allowing 1 earned on 3 hits and 3 walks. He also struck out 2. Junior Jay Cantu closed out the game throwing an inning while allowing 2 earned on 1 hit and a walk, he struck out 1 as well. At the plate, the Dutch bats were able to put together 10 hits to score their 5 runs. They were led by Senior Jacob Torres, who went 2-3 with a double and two walks. Sophomore Asher Folkert also had two hits and a hit by pitch. Senior Cody Rozema led the team in the RBI category with two. The Dutch fall to 0-3 and 0-3 in the OK Black. They resume play after Spring Break.
