The Holland Dutch completed their OK Black Conference series with the Zeeland East Chix after a series of postponements and delays prolonged games two and three over the span of nearly a week. Game two started much like game one for the Dutch, who found themselves in a 12-0 hole. The bats finally came alive in the bottom of the fifth inning when they plated three runs to avoid the mercy rule, and then two more in the bottom of the seventh to make the score 12-5. The Dutch were led by Senior Jacob Torres who had two doubles and an RBI. Fellow Senior Abel Walkotten had two singles and two RBIs, and Junior Jay Cantu also had two singles and two RBIs. Junior Xavier Murphy added a single to the total as well. On the mound, Senior Robby Wiersma started the game, going three innings and allowed six runs (one earned) on seven hits while striking out one. Junior Tanner Kingery completed the game, pitching the remaining four innings allowing six earned runs on seven hits and one walk. He struck out three. In game three, the Dutch jumped to an 8-3 lead in the top of the forth inning after a Dutch offensive barrage plated six runs. Unfortunately, the Chix bats came back with their own attack and drove in eight runs in the bottom of the forth before the game was called due to darkness last Thursday. The game was picked up where it left off on Monday, where the Chix put across their ninth run before the Dutch were able to get off the field, with the score 12-8. The two teams traded blows for the remaining three innings, with the game coming to a 16-13 loss for the Dutch. The Dutch were productive at the plate, with six different hitters recording hits and three with multiple. Senior Abel Walkotten blasted a two-run home run in the six-run forth. It was his and the team's first of the season. He was responsible for five runs, with three RBIs and two runs scored. Senior Gabe Bos was 2-4 with a triple and two runs scored; Junior Jay Cantu reached base four times going 2-3 with two RBIs, two walks, and two runs scored; Sophomore Asher Folkert drove in two RBI's on a triple; Senior Cody Rozema had a hit, run, RBI, and two walks; Senior Robby Wiersma had a hit and a run. On the mound, Senior Peyton Lehman started the game going 3 2/3 innings, allowing seven earned on ten hits and four walks. He struck out three. Senior Abel Walkotten finished the resumed game, going 2 1/3 allowing four unearned runs on four hits. The Dutch drop to 0-6 and 0-6 in the OK Black Conference. They visit the Holland Christian Maroons for a doubleheader on Tuesday, April 22 for their next conference series.
