The Holland Dutch softball team won both games against Grand Rapids Union on Wednesday afternoon. Addyson Hill picked up her second win on the season in game one pitching 5 strong innings. Freshman Ryleigh Luna picked up her first win of the season in game two going 4 strong in the victory. The Dutch collected 27 hits on the day while earning 14 walks. Leading the way at the plate for Holland were Delaney Wilson with 5 hits, Elyssa Kelley and Baylee Rittenhouse with 4, Morgan Siffin and Apen Boes with 3, MacKenza Russell, Addyson Hill, and Daisy Byrd with 2. "Union is much better than in years past. They put the ball in play and made us play defense. Their pitchers were close to the zone forcing us to be aggressive. We struggled initially adjusting to their slower speed, but once we made those adjustments, we hit the ball hard. We played well in both games. We pitched well, we fielded well, and we hit well. You put those three things together and you are tough to beat", said coach Hill. Holland will be back in action next Tuesday on the road against Zeeland West to continue conference play. Holland improves to 3-16 on the season.
