The Holland Dutch visited the West Ottawa Panthers for a Mother's Day weekend double-header for another non-conference matchup. The Dutch battled, but were unable to get the offense going to support some strong pitching and defensive efforts. In game one, Sophomore Ethan Byrd pitched a complete game, allowing three earned on three hits and five walks. He struck out seven in his first start of the season. The Dutch were limited to two hits for the game - a triple by Senior Gabe Bos and a single by Senior Ryland Vanderploeg. Senior Abel Walkotten drove in Bos on a ground ball to earn the lone RBI of the game. In game two, Senior Robby Wiersma made the start for the Dutch, going three innings, allowing four earned on four hits and five walks while striking out one. Fellow Senior Peyton Lehman pitched two innings in relief, allowing one earned on three hits and a walk. Senior Abel Walkotten pitched the final inning, allowing one hit and a walk while striking out two. The Dutch again were limited to only two hits - a double to deep left by Junior Tanner Kingery and a single to right field by Walkotten. The Dutch fell to 5-14 and remain 1-11 in the OK Black. They visit Zeeland West on Tuesday, May 13 for a conference doubleheader.
